I'm going to let my guard down for a moment. The truth is, I grew up so poor that to this day, I tend to have food insecurities. As a child, we were on welfare and moved around a lot, living with family until we overstayed our welcome. At one point, we camped for over a year and a half. Yeah, we were homeless, but it was spun as a great adventure. This crazy experience shaped who I am today.
In our house, nothing, and I mean nothing, was ever wasted. If you had chicken for dinner one night, you knew that the stew pot would be feeding us for the next four or five nights. Soups, stews, and chili are my comfort food.
By now, you're probably wondering what this has to do with quilting. Quilters have a tendency to donate quilts. Here at Loopy D's, our charitable donations tend to focus on our homeless community. For years, we have donated time and quilts to Inn from the Cold. We have also collected for the food bank and made cash donations to them. You give to organizations that mean something to you.
Well, this year I came across a small business that is doing something amazing and aligns with where we want to give back. No Fixed Address YYC is a mobile soup cart. Their mission is to pay it forward with their Huggabowl.

For every token purchased, you're feeding someone with food insecurities. A $500 donation will feed 100 people.
So how does one make a ripple? We will be holding three fundraising events
Sunday Afternoon Tea July 2nd 1:00 - 5:00 pm $25 per person for each event
BBQ Aug 4th 6:00 - 9:00 pm all funds raised will be donated
Pizza & A Movie Sept 1st 7:00- 11:00 pm to www.nofixedaddressyyc
The goal is to raise $500 per event, and I promise you will have a great time. The food will be amazing, and you'll be making a difference one bowl at a time. There will also be door prizes and much more. So, get your tickets and bring a friend.
